The Smith Lecture 2006 : The Twilight of Atheism : Friday, 15 September 2006

“The idea that there is no God captured human minds and imaginations, offering intellectual and spiritual inspiration to generations that saw themselves as imprisoned ... by the religious past. ... Yet the sun has begun to set on another empire ... It is far from clear what the future of atheism will be, or what will replace
it ..... ” Professor Alister McGrath, 2006 Smith Lecturer, and Professor of Historical Theology at Oxford University

Building a School for Orphans : Ndola - Zambia

Currently a school is being built for orphans in Ndola, Zambia.

Volunteer builders skilled and semi-skilled to help achieve this task are desperately required. Do you know anyone who could help?

Perhaps someone that you know who would be willing to give up some time to have an African Adventure using their hands and their skills to help build something that will make an incredible difference to children who would otherwise have no hope of an education.

There may be some sponsorship available to provide financial assistance for flights and accomodation at Lifespring Farm, Ndola, Zambia. Could this be just the opportuntity you or someone you know has been waiting for?

Find out more about the project and the charitable work on www.thelifespringfoundation.com or contact Berni Morris-Smith from the 18:30 service on 0405 504 994.

Please do send this on to anyone that you think may be interested, friends, neighbours, colleagues etc.. Your help would be really appreciated!

Childcare Helpers/Minders/Workers Required for Reach Out : 18-20 Aug 06

Dear Friends ,

Childcare for Reachout has now become an urgent need for us to fill, despite ongoing attempts to recruit help. This is for the pre-school age children and will enable their parents to participate in this conference to be held in Katoomba, Aug 18-20. There will be three sessions where childcare needs to be provided:

Saturday morning (9.00 am - 12.30 pm)
Saturday afternoon (2.00 pm - 4.30 pm)
Sunday morning (9. 00 am - 12.30pm).

Helpers may volunteer for all or just some sessions.

Please circulate this email to those contacts you know who may be suitable to help. We need both an organiser who will accept overall responsibility as well as helpers to assist in caring. We also require assistance with providing suitable toys and equipment for the children. It would be great if we can see a church group take this ministry on.

If you can help please contact the Reachout Chairman, Magnus Linder, on 9868-477 or magnus@omf.net or 0425 255 816. If you want to know more about Reachout check out www.reachout.au.com

Thanks for your help!

Opinion Survey

Michael Aitken thought this might be an opportunity if you would like to give your opinion to a dying political party's attempt to silence Christians in schools & politics.
